What It Does
The persona is your bot's identity: its name, how it addresses people, how formal or friendly it sounds, and what it will and won't do. The bot writes every reply according to this text.
Setup
- Open the Setup page in the panel and go to the Persona card.
- In the bot name field, enter the name the bot will introduce itself with.
- In the persona text, describe the bot's character and tone. Optionally use the improve-with-AI tab to have a draft written, then move it into the editor.
- Add the rules the bot must always follow to the business rules field — for example "Never promise discounts" or "Never give a medical diagnosis".
- Write a change note and click Save.
- Try the new persona with Test your bot.
How It Works
For every message the bot reads your persona and your knowledge base together: how to speak comes from the persona, what to say comes from the knowledge base. Each save is added to the version history, so you can track your changes and roll back if needed.
The bot always follows a set of basic safety rules that can't be turned off. The rules you write are added on top of them.
Limits and Things to Know
- The persona text must be at least 200 characters.
- It can't be saved while unfilled placeholders such as "..." or [PRICE] remain.
- AI drafting is limited to 2 times a day and 4 times a week. Your remaining allowance is shown on screen.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I go back to an earlier version of my persona?
- Yes. Every save is stored as a new version. Restore any version from the version history.
- Should I put prices in the persona?
- No. Prices, address and opening hours belong in the knowledge base. The persona describes who the bot is and how it talks.
- Can AI write the persona for me?
- Yes. In the improve-with-AI tab, chat with the assistant to draft your persona, then move the result into the editor and refine it.
