What It Does
Comments like "Price?" or "Can I get more info?" often go unanswered or get answered in public. A comment-to-DM automation sends an automatic private message to people whose comments match your rules, and can also leave a short public reply. That moves interested people straight into a DM — a sales conversation.
Setup
- Open Automations in the panel and click New automation.
- Enter an Automation Name and choose the Instagram account. The account can't be changed later.
- Under which posts, choose All posts or Specific post.
- Choose the Trigger: Any comment, Exact keyword match or Comments containing. For the keyword options, add Trigger Keywords.
- Choose the Action: Send DM only, Reply to comment only or Send DM + Reply to comment.
- Write the DM Message and the Comment Reply, click Save and make sure the automation is Active.
To insert the commenter's username use
{{username}}; to include the comment itself use{{comment}}.
How It Works
When a comment arrives, the automation checks whether it matches the trigger. If it does, it sends the DM and the comment reply. Each automation card shows how many times it has fired. You can also follow pending and hidden comments on the Comments page.
Limits and Things to Know
- Every trigger except Any comment needs at least one keyword. The DM and reply texts can't be empty.
- Sending a private reply to a comment manually from a contact's profile is possible once per comment, within 7 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What happens if the commenter replies to the DM?
- The conversation lands in the Inbox and the bot continues it like any other DM.
- Can I use an automation for a single post only?
- Yes. Under which posts, choose Specific post and paste the post link.
- Can I also reply to comments myself?
- Yes. On the Comments page you can reply to, hide or mark each comment as read.
